After Raising $325,000 in One Month, Trump & McMaster-Endorsed Cody Simpson to File for Commissioner of Agriculture on Monday

Friday, March 13, 2026

COLUMBIA, SC – With the endorsement of President Donald J. Trump and Governor Henry McMaster, a rapidly growing statewide coalition of supporters, and more than $325,000 raised in just four weeks, Republican Cody Simpson will officially file his candidacy for South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026 at the South Carolina State Election Commission.

Simpson’s campaign says the early fundraising surge demonstrates strong statewide momentum and growing support from farmers, agribusiness leaders, and grassroots conservatives across South Carolina.

"After President Trump called on Cody Simpson to 'Run, Cody, Run,' the campaign has hit the ground running and is in an incredibly strong position with statewide support that is just starting to build," said Michael Mule', Simpson's campaign consultant.

A fifth-generation South Carolina farmer, Simpson enters the race after serving as South Carolina State Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency during the Trump Administration and as Agriculture Advisor to Governor Henry McMaster, where he worked directly with farmers and producers across the Palmetto State.

“With both the Governor’s and President Trump’s endorsement and the growing support we are seeing from the Lowcountry to the Midlands, from the Pee Dee to the Upstate, it’s clear that people are ready for strong leadership that will fight to protect our farms, our families, and our future,” Simpson said. “I have proudly spent my life working the land and serving our state, and I’m running because South Carolina needs a Commissioner of Agriculture who understands this industry not only from behind a desk but also from the cab of a tractor and the fields of South Carolina.”
